Mr. Buck has a varied background: he grew up in a dairy farming community in southeastern Minnesota. His educational background is in engineering and finance both at the undergraduate and graduate levels respectively. He is a graduate of Purdue University and The Harvard Executive Development Program as well as a graduate of MIT Birthing of Giants Program which is a 3-year graduate certificate program. He has worked for the past thirty years in three different markets: aerospace, automotive and the medical device and life science area.
His professional experience is composed of progressive career movements within Fortune 100 Corporations, up to the level of Internal Director. His divisional responsibilities included management of eleven different manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and the Pacific Rim. He is founder of Paragon Medical located in Pierceton, Indiana, a manufacturer of medical devices for the orthopaedic community worldwide, with nine global facilities and currently serves as Chairman, President and CEO. He has extensive experience in the Private and Public Equity Markets and has facilitated multiple equity and debt capitalization events.
He was named 1998 Entrepreneur of the Year for small manufacturing firms, and received the 2004 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the life sciences category for the State of Indiana. The Warsaw Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce named Toby 2006 Man of the Year. Toby Buck and Paragon Medical were selected for the 2012 Innovation and Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame.
Industry Account Manager - Medical, EOS GmbH
With a career in medical devises stretching over 20 years in various medical device companies including orthopaedic implants, he has a good insight into the requirements medical device firms have with regards to 3D additive manufacture and the quality and validation requirements needed for medical devices and implants.
EOS GmbH with head office based in Munich is the world’s largest Additive Manufacturing business supplying direct laser sintering machines for both metal and polymer applications. Having started as far back as 1989 they are true pioneers in the field of 3D additive manufacture and pride themselves on their quality and process stability.
Originally from Johannesburg, Fritz now lives with his family in the UK from where he manages key customers in the medical device field for EOS GmbH. He has a Bachelor’s degree in business rounded off with a MBA form Brunel University, West London.

Patricia Lempereur has 17 years of experience in the industry, including 15 years in spine medical device. After beginning her career as Head of mission in charge of CRAFT project at ANRT, the French Association for Research and Technology,
Patricia held various positions in Marketing Department at SpineVision, a privately-owned international company developing and marketing spinal devices and Medicrea a public company developing and marketing spinal devices.
Patricia joined SpineGuard in 2009 at the foundation of the company and she holds a Master degree in Biotechnology & Management from the ISTM School Noisy-Le-Grand, France.

Ali founded AVICENNE in 1992. He holds a Science degree from Université Paris Sud Orsay and École Normale Supérieure de Cachan, followed by an MBA in Innovation Management from Paris Dauphine. Since 1990 he has been working on strategic and marketing studies in the medical sector.
He has advised major players in this industry (Medtronic, Stryker, Zimmer, Depuy) in terms of strategy, marketing, technical and economical appraisal, as well as mergers & acquisitions. He has also advised several Private equity funds for acquisitions and build-ups. In 2005, he created “Implants”, the annual medical industry conference and exhibition, which he has chaired ever since.

Vice Chairman of The Board, Orchid Orthopedic Solutions LLC
Mr. Miller is one of the architects of Orchid Orthopedic Solutions' current business model, and the founder of one of the companies that now comprises the Orchid platform.
As the founder of Stealth Engineering and Technologies, Mr. Miller, in 1990, quickly laid the groundwork for entering the business of supplying complex near-net shape forgings to the Orthopedic Implant Industry. Stealth Engineering and Technologies, (now part of Orchid), has become a major supplier of net and near-net forging to Orthopedic OEM’s around the world. Mr. Miller is credited as being instrumental in introducing near-net and net shape forgings to the Orthopedic Industry.
Mr. Miller has been the CEO of Orchid since its inception and has assisted in building Orchid into a global force in contract manufacturing and supply chain solutions to the Orthopedic industry. In 2005, Mr. Miller was named CEO of Orchid and officially retired as CEO on January 1st 2017, after 28 years in the Orthopedic Contract Manufacturing Business, and will remain active in the company, serving as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for Orchid Orthopedics Solutions LLC.

Nicolas Pivert is the RTG Group Leader of Medtronic France since September 2016. Starting his career as a Research and Development Engineer, he joined in 2003 Emka Technologies as Head of Key Accounts for Integrated Solutions in France, Benelux, Germany and Eastern Europe then CryoCath Technologies before joining Medtronic. Nicolas has spent most of his career in medical technology.
He joined Medtronic in 2008 and held several managerial positions within the Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRM) Business Unit and more exactly for the Cardiac Electrophysiology therapy. In 2016, he was appointed Business Director of Pain Spine Business Unit for France. In September 2016 he became Director of Restorative Therapies Group (RTG) in France.
Nicolas Pivert holds Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering - Polytech Marseille, of Cardiovascular Mechanic - University of Paris 12 and in Management - HEC Montreal. He has extensive management experience in sales and marketing.

Magnus René is CEO of the Arcam Group, Mölndal, Sweden. Arcam Group provides cost-efficient Additive Manufacturing solutions for production of metal components primarily for the aerospace and medical industries. Arcam offers EBM systems through Arcam AB in Sweden, powder metals through AP&C in Canada and implant contract manufacturing through DiSanto in the U.S.
Mr. René has previously been head of operations at Micronic Laser Systems in Stockholm, a manufacturer of advanced lithography equipment for the semiconductor industry. He holds an M Sc in Electrical Engineering from Chalmers University of Technology.

Armando Salito is today Head of Technology of Orchid Switzwerland.
He began his career at the Research Centre of Plasma Physics at EPFL in Lausanne and afterwards joined the R&D department at Plasma Technik AG where he had the first contact with Vacuum Plasma Sprayed coatings for medical applications. He is one of the pioneers of the bio-compatible coatings applied on medical implants. Throughout his professional career, he has acquired comprehensive experience in the field of medical surface engineering coatings and enjoys an industry-wide reputation as key expert in this field.

Vice President of R&D, Advanced Surgical and Orthopedics, Integer*
Ashish Shah is the Vice President of Research and Development for the Advanced Surgical and Orthopaedics division at Integer. Prior to this position, he held various roles within Integer such as Sr. Director for Orthopedics R&D, Director of Materials and Process Technologies for the enterprise and R&D Director for Primary Batteries and Materials Research.
Upon joining Greatbatch (now, Integer) in 1995 he played a significant role in the research and development of tantalum electrolytic capacitors for use in implantable cardiac defibrillators. He holds 24 US patents in the areas of implantable components. In addition to his primary goal of leading R&D programs for Integer, he is active on AAMI committees, industry organizations and university advisory boards. Ashish has a PhD and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University at Buffalo, USA.

Since 1979 ECA is the industry leader in the design and development of single-use torque-limiting instrument and sterile-packed surgery ready procedural kits used by surgeons to secure medical device implants. James was a vice president at PBS Biotech, a leading single-use bioreactor company and at Whittaker Corporation in the mid-1990’s led the development of the world’s first telemedicine system used by radiologists for remote analysis of X-Rays.
He was also VP Engineering at MSC Software, the industry leading finite element analysis (FEA) software company and held senior executive positions at various high tech firms in the electronics, medical and defense markets.
He is a USAF veteran and was a US defense official supporting the Pentagon’s role in the US space shuttle and military and intelligence satellite programs including Navstar GPS.

Gianfranco has spent his 21 years’ career in the Thermal Spray industry. Holding a MS in physics, he’s covered positions in R&D, Quality and Regulatory, before focusing on sales. He jumped onboard Eurocoating and the Medical Devices industry in 2009 and, since then, he’s been part of their extraordinary journey which brought the company to be a leading tier 1 supplier to the device manufacturers, establishing in short order global geographical presence in Europe, US, and China.

Yanming Zheng, PhD is a Principal Research Scientist at Smith & Nephew, Inc. Yanming has extensive experience and knowledge in biomechanical research/technical support for orthopaedic implant development. She has more than 29 years of professional experience in numerical simulations, including 18 years of simulation and technical management in advanced Finite Element Analyses of orthopaedic implants.
She has been involved in the US FDA and ASME efforts in the V&V 40 specification development process for the computational modeling of medical devices. She has also served as a research liaison to the China market for Smith & Nephew Orthopaedics for 8 years, and has substantial experience and knowledge with global regulatory requirements.
